Storm surges & amber

Printer-friendly version

During the sometimes very harsh storms, the force of the water loosens amber from the seabed and sends it to the shoreline, where you can be lucky to find a piece. If you go to the sea right after a storm, you should look between sandworms and other little sea creatures flush up by the storm, as they are often linked with amber - the easiest way to find this is to look for the gulls - they are always looking for a fast snack. Amber is almost as light as wood and sounds wooden like if you carefully knocks it on your teeth.
